He was an epitome of professionalism. He never let his matter of contentions get in the way of his career. His feud with Shaquille O Neal was never a letdown. The pair led the Lakers on to the path of victory by winning three ensuing NBA championships from the year of 2000 to 2002.

The havoc wreaked the pillars of his success, and sales dropped for his replica jersey when Kobe Bryant was wrongly accused of sexual assault. It was a detrimental point of his success. The group was allegedly traveling to a basketball game at Bryant’s Mamba Academy. From a personal viewpoint, I believe that this accident was a case of wrong decisions.

The unimaginable losses of the families were saddening. It was unwise of the aviation authorities even to permit special flying permission during foggy and misty conditions.

Off the court

Off the court, he was married to Vanessa Laine. They met in November 1999 and got married in April 2001. Their marriage was unattended by Bryant’s parents, advisors, and many others due to multitudes of reasons. They were separated for over two years, which came to an end when their first daughter was born.

Bryant’s parents opposed the couple, but they remained together until “death did them apart.” His marriage life took a toll when his wife, Vanessa, suffered a miscarriage due to an ectopic pregnancy.

On 16th December 2011, Bryant filed for a divorce and, when asked, stated that due to unavoidable circumstances, the couple had to call off their marriage. They appealed for joint custody. But, destiny had other plans. The couple via a social media post stated that they called off their divorce. And soon after, in December 2016, Vanessa gave birth to their third daughter, and in January 2019, their fourth daughter. Bryant was also known to be a die-hard fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. He also fancied football and was a fan of  Barcelona and Manchester City.

Bryant’s estimated net worth was 350 million dollars in 2016 and was ranked as the 10th most top paid athletes by Forbes.

Concurrently, various tributes were made by artists like Alicia Keys, Lizzo, etc. in honor of the late legend at the Grammys in Staples Center, where the Lakers play each season.

What happened that day?

What seemed to be a typical day to Kobe Bryant was his last flight. As he pulled his Range Rover at the Orange County’s John Wayne Airport and boarded onto the helicopter along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant and several others were waiting in the waiting arena. After they all boarded the chopper named Sikorsky S-76, no one had a clue that it was Bryant’s last flight.

Around 9:45 a.m., the helicopter plummeted into a portion of a mountain in Calabasas, said to be 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles, and burnt to the ashes. Reports claim that the helicopter crashed due to sudden and extreme foggy conditions. Kobe Bryant, his daughter, Gianna, and the other seven passengers lost their lives in the helicopter crash. After the crash, a small bushfire around the site alerted the authorities, and paramedics were alerted. However, later it was confirmed to be Kobe Bryant’s body by using his fingerprint.

Russia has been in a state of suspension from the sports scenario for the past three years due to a state-funded doping program during the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. Following an executive committee meeting in Tokyo, WADA director general Olivier Niggli told the press that their forensics experts have found some irregularities in the reports furnished by the RUSADA while comparing it to the information provided by the whistleblower(s). He added that while analyzing these differences, they have come up with some serious questions that need to be posed and answered immediately.

WADA has also stated that if Russia does not comply with these terms then they need to be ready for facing the consequences. It may lead to them not being able to host any more sporting events, let alone participate. Already during their past three years of the suspension period, they had to face the latter one; barred from sporting events. Although they were allowed to participate by the International Olympic Committee in the 2016 Rio Olympics, they could not rally under their flag and had to participate as neutral athletes in the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Games. The same can happen in the upcoming World Athletics Championships to be held in Doha, Qatar.

Earlier WADA did not have the power to pursue such cases but with the new set of rules, they have gained the power to deliver the consequences of the penalty to such cases. This case is really serious and according to them, this needs to be done or else Russia will keep competing as if nothing has happened.

The Russian sports minister Pavel Kolobkov spoke up regarding this case, saying that both the Agencies WADA and RUSADA will be co-operating to find out how and why these discrepancies came about and that the Russian regime is ready to help in whatever way they can.

It is also possible that if Russia challenges this suspension order from WADA the case may appear against the Court of Arbitration for Sport or CAS located in Lausanne Switzerland. This can make it even harder for Russia if they are found to be at fault and will have to face the consequences of such a scandal.

Roughly one year ago on September 2018, WADA lifted its ban on RUSADA, which conceived discord in the global anti-doping community, however, in their defense WADA stated that this move was necessary to obtain the Moscow lab reports but with this new information coming to light, the ban may be reinstated for good this time around. Even the president of the Russian Olympic Committee, Stanislav Pozdnyakov agrees with this. However, to some people inside WADA, this was unacceptable as they wanted to asses and analyze all the data that was sent to them before lifting the ban.

However, according to the chief executive of a US Anti-doping Agency Travis Tygart, WADA was being played by Russia or RUSADA for some time now and this fresh evidences are not surprising to that matter. He goes on to add that there should be no back door deals between the two but a fair & square action must be taken with full transparency and out in the public.

This is not the first time Russia has tampered with their lab reports. There are charges against the Russian sports ministry against tampering with urine samples during the London 2012 Olympics and another such case of tampering during the 2014 Sochi Winter Games. However, if proven guilty this time around, they can be heavy fines, i.e. banned from any upcoming sporting events big and small and even barred from hosting any such events on home soil. The worst thing is no one knows for how long.

Grigory Rodchenkov, former head of the Russian anti-doping agency has confessed that he played a vital role in replacing a number of urine samples with clean urine with the help of the FSB of the Russian Secret Service during the London Olympics. This led to WADA banning them in the 2016 Rio Olympics but the International Olympic Committee overruled that order and let them join. However, they were only allowed to participate in the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Games as neutrals. Thus, one can only assume how drastic a penalty Russia is looking at if they are found to be at fault in this whole fiasco. A ‘noncompliant’ banner for Russia will be very harmful.

It is needless to say that athletes all over the world are outraged at such an outcome. A similar such case has been found against one male and one female Kenyan athlete, but Athletics Kenya has denied any such wrongdoings. If found guilty, Russia is looking at some serious penalties in the sporting fold. The recent irregularities can potentially fuel the long-standing discord of the Russian doping game in the International Anti-doping Community and can lead to the country being banned from all major sporting events for good.

The purpose of the original game was to build strength and to run faster with weight on the back. • The official track lengthwise is 253.5 meters.
• The track has an about one-meter deep water obstacle as well as two dry obstacles.

• The minimum weight off wife compulsorily is 49 kilograms. A less than 49 kg, will surely be laden with an added weight rucksack to bring the total weight to 49 kg.

• The belt worn by the carrier and helmet is two equipment allowed.
• Only two pairs at a time this make them heat contest between themselves.
• Each must care and respect each other and every other competitor.
• Every contestant must pay attention and follow the instructions given by organizers.
• The winner of the championship is the one who completes the competition in the shortest time.
• Also, the most fun couple, the best costume, and the most potent carrier will get awarded with an exceptional award.

The International wife-carrying championship rules are the basis for all competitions, but rules and prizes do vary for each competition.

Reach of the sport:

Wife carrying contest so far has been sportingly played in the United States, the UK, India, Germany, Australia, Hong Kong, and other parts of the world besides Finland and nearby Sweden, Estonia, and Latvia.

The first world championship was as per record held in the year 1997, at Finland and it was with a history of 65.0 seconds won by Finnish couple named Jouni and Tiina Jussila. In this year 2019 Vytautas Kirkliauskas (Lithuania) and Neringa Kirkliauskiene (Lithuania), 66.7 seconds, a Lithuanian couple took away the championship. The highest record is of 69.2 seconds by the Estonian couple.
